(pronounced /yah-gee/) -earth Eiichi: dub/vocals/rhythm box (pronounced /ay-eechee/) - earth Band Note: They are like a baby, both cute and grotesque at the same time This group have been together for somewhere around 20 years, starting out as a free-form new wave goth punk/krautrock unit with the Tsuchiya brothers (Haru and Take) and Sakai-san. Yagi joined the group later and his cutting Junior Marvin inspired guitar playing and Haru-chan's discovery of Lee 'Scratch' Perry transformed them into a non-rasta dub band A real down-home Japanese spirit molds this wide range of music into an original sound I call 'Japanese Spiritual New Wave Dub'. Perhaps you can imagine Nina Hagen produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry with The Slits' Japanese alter-ego as the backing group. Eichi, better known by his solo project, "Ichi" is the newest member and defacto band manager. http://busaichedelic.org/nohshintoh http://myspace.com/nohshintoh Recording Note: This was recorded about 4 or 5 meters from the band and about 2 and a half to 3 meters off the floor. The microphones were suspended from the balcony railing with light nylon rope. Venue Note: There is a large L-shaped balcony area over the entrance and kitchen. The PA is suspended from the rafters and pointed at an angle from the sides toward the floor. There are also 2 stand mounted speakers that serve as both monitor and PA. These are placed asymetrically around the performance area. Of late I'm beginning to think that these 'monitors' have become the main house speakers. The whole place has been put together in the space under the JR Nagoya Chuo commuter train line's overhead railway. During quieter moments the sound of the trains passing overhead is clearly audible. This was recorded with permission from the band and the venue, Event Note: Nohshintoh was the fourth band on a four band bill. The event was a CD release party for the second band, Suzumemba, from Kyoto. Ryuu Kyuu Nite is an ongoing series produced by Sakana021. http://www.geocities.jp/sakana021 Also appearing were Neco Nemuru from Osaka and Tokoroten Slider, from Nagoya. Hopefully, I will have permission to trade recordings of the other artists too. Brought to you by busaichedelic.org (aka BS Entertainment) :-)
